Weapons
Weapons are generated randomly in Borderlands. This means that weapons that have the same name do not necessarily have the same stats. This is also true of boss weapons. Rather than waste time listing every possibly combination in the game, we decided it best to list the most powerful and/or interesting of them all only. This is more practical and less of a waste of time for those of you who wish to know the juicy information.
Borderlands has the following types of weapons:
• Combat Rifles
• Eridian Guns
• Pistols
• Revolvers
• Rocket Launchers
• Shotguns
• Sniper Rifles
• Sub-Machine Guns
Weapon Proficiency
Something that makes Borderlands extra fun is that you are rewarded not only with XP when you shoot enemies down, but also an increase in weapon proficiency. The higher your proficiency, the more of a stat bonus is added to that category of weapon. This includes not only accuracy, but damage and other stats too.
Weapon Name Color - Rarity
There are 8 levels of weapon rarity. This is depicted by the text color of the weapon's name and is calculated based off of the weapon's stats. The colors are ranked in the following order:
